5. This leather bound registrar book is from the Lord
Mayor of Leeds, Alderman Mrs. Mary Pearce J.P. dated 1958-1959.
This register chronicles all visitors to Leeds from 1958 to 1959
with the first signature in the book being that of HRH Prince
Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, husband of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth
II. He has signed and put the date 21st. May 1958.
Included are signatures of
all who attended state visits, official luncheons, dinners, festivals,
cocktail parties, special occassions, professional gold tounraments
and more for the years 1958-1959. There is another entry, visit
to Leeds of Her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness, The
Prince Philip Duke of Edinburgh on the occasion of The Leeds Centenary
Musical Festival, Civic Luncheon Friday the 17th October 1958.
All those participating in
the events for 1958 and 1959 have signed this register. 95 pages
of signatures of dignitaries, ambassadors,Lords and Ladies and
more.

A Chronicle of
Queen Elizabeth II & HRH Prince Phillips Visit To Leeds (UK)
1958-1959
SOLD A giant leather scrapbook chronicling the events in
the life of The Lord Mayor of Leeds, Alderman Mrs. Mary Pearce,
J.P. 1958-1959. This leather book is filled with every invitation,
menu and newspaper clipping for the life of Mary Pearce from May
19, 1958 to May 26, 1959. Included is the invitation which reads,
To have the honor of meeting Her Majesty The Queen and H.R.H.The
Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, The Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress
of Leeds (Alderman Mrs. Mary Pearce J.P. and Miss Bertha Fozard)
request the pleasure of the company of ------- at Luncheon in
the Civic Hall, Leeds on Friday, the 17th October 1958, at 1p.m..
The Luncheon menu is also in the book. Remember, all items have
been glued in the scrapbook. There is a large newspaper photo
of The Queen walking to the Royal Box at the Grand Theater, Leeds,
being escorted by Lord Mayor of Leeds, Mrs. Mary Pearce. Another
invitation reads, Her Majesty The Queen and H.R>H. The Prince
Philip, Duke of Edinburgh are honoring The Lord Mayor and Lady
Mayoress of Leeds (Alderman Mrs. Mary Pearce J.P. and Miss Bertha
Fozard) by graciously consenting to attend a Reception in the
Civic Hall, Leeds on Saturday, the 18th October 1958, at 9-30
p.m. at the conclusion of The Leeds Centenary Musical Festival.
This book is filled with many memories of Leeds in 1958-1959.
I purchased this registrar along with a commemorative photo album
from a person in Leeds on a trip in 1997. It is sad to think no
family member wanted these items as a keepsake. There are 61 invitations,
announcements, programs and menus.

SOLD Needs a new album. The title page reads, "This
picture-record of the Leeds Centenary Musical Festival in 1958
and the visit to it of Her Majesty the Queen is presented to Alderman
Mary Pearce, Lord Mayor, by The Yorkshire Post and Yorkshire Evening
Post in honor of the distinguished part she played in these events
as Chief Citizen." Signed Linton Andrews, Editor, The Yorkshire
Post and Art Woodward, Editor, The Yorkshire Evening Post. This
album contains "36" 6" X 8" black and white
photographs of Her Majesty, HRH Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh,
Mrs. Mary Pearce and others. All photos are a vivid black and
white and clear. It was difficult to scan due to the thickness
of the album. All photographs are attached to the page. All are
suitable for framing. Here are 19 of 36 incredible photos.
